2020 Trends in the Spring/Summer Collection by Mendola Fabrics

Ethnic, spiritual or cultural identity gives voice to the tendencies and causes us to find our own identity. Identity thus represents the stratified sum of simultaneous experiences at the individual, national, global, online or offline levels. The 2020 Trends, therefore revolve around the concept of identity, a stratified global unity inspired by the different layers of identity.

GLAM TOUCH

The intense rhythm in everyday life, the fast-paced events we attend, the light of the spotlight on the theatrical plays, the grandiose international launch of the cinematic productions – all of these outlines the picture of a glamorous world, in which the individual experiences are intense and strongly shared through the online environment. Designers from around the world are inspired daily by the emergence of digital arts and crafts, creating a spectacular world.

The fabrics inspired by the glamour universe are less conventional, with strong and abstract patterns in iridescent shades. The textures stimulate the tactile sense, contributing to the creation of an original environment. The textured surface of the fabrics is often highlighted with 3D models and prints, meant to emphasize the dominant eclectic style. The sparkling details, the electric gloss of the material, but also the digital patterns, complete the futuristic and exuberant picture of this style.

NATURE CALL

The agitation specific to the urban rhythm is counterbalanced by the practices and influences from the natural sphere. The trend directions of the last years have taught us how we can create real oases of greenery in our own home, but also how to find our inspiration in nature. The color palettes inspired by nature, bring to the fore natural nuances, unpainted, on surfaces that seem unpolished. Finding peace involves stimulating the senses through the nuances taken from nature (terra) and educated by man.

The fabrics are plain, without a pattern, and the texture is natural, giving the impression of non-processing or minimal processing. The space arrangement on the line of this trend implies the use of unfinished surfaces, in colors as close as possible to those of nature, with minimal furniture and accessories from materials such as wood.

CITY LIFE

City life represents a continuous source of inspiration for international trendsetters. The city rush inspires an original combination between functional and aesthetic, between minimalism and accessibility and between primary colors. The textures of the fabrics are smooth, slightly shiny, while the dynamism is being the central concept of the urban trend.

The contrast between the vibrant combinations of the basic colors (red, blue, green, yellow, purple, black, pink) and the jovial patterns (lines, dots) render the intensity of an alert rhythm, specific to urban areas. The illusion of movement is captured by the fine geometries of the materials, which is essential in projecting an urbanistic design.

CULTURAL MIX

Finding a multi-ethnic identity is a source of continuous inspiration. The society is permanently influenced by the individual and collective culture, this being correlated with the ethnic diversity and the micro-cultures specific to each one. The upward trend, of acceptance and influence from the micro-cultures that make up the society, determines the reinterpretation of the ethnic roots and their adoption, including in the global directions of design and fashion.

The handicraft items have gained a greater value, these being raised to the level of art. The originality of the handicraft interwoven with the value is given to the tradition generates a cultural, multiethnic trend, in which the attention given to fabrics with ethnic patterns occupies a central place. The individual experience of each one and the cultural-ethnic identity, are valuable sources of inspiration - for the design of original interior arrangements, with reinterpreted ethnic specificity.

LUXURY FEELING

The beauty of past eras can be enjoyed through design. The Luxury Feeling trend aims to regain the brilliance of the golden ages by designing a space detached from a long-standing world. Everyday agitation often invites us to look to the past, to times when the pace was less intense, in which the opulence of materials and precious color combinations materialized in tangible expressions of creativity.

The texture of the fabrics is a refined, ultra-finished, pleasant to the touch, the tactile role being a very important one. The tactile role of the fabrics is as important as the visual one. Contrasting combinations of precious materials (velvet and wood) are often used to design lush, vintage-style spaces. The materials are also chosen in contrasting shades, serious, intense colors, next to pale, neutral colors. The fabrics often come stylized with generous folds, original pens.
